Guess what! I just received my substitute teacher certificate from the Arizona Department of Education. Over the past five years as Plant Foreman at an elementary school, I really enjoyed interacting with the children. (They seemed to like me, too.) I taught the kids interesting science facts whenever I could, and I gave a SpaceX rocket launch presentation to several classes. I like to show young people how the subjects of math and science apply to real-world occupations. Now, on the days I’m not working for the school district, I can substitute teach.

Well, this school year sure went fast! I can’t believe it’s already over. I was able to substitute teach at many different schools in several districts including Deer Valley, Peoria, Glendale, Dysart, and Creighton. I also subbed at Canon School in Black Canyon City and even a few charter schools such as Caurus Academy, Liberty Traditional, and the Academy of Math and Science. I taught all ages from kindergarten through high school. In addition to general education, I was a substitute for a variety of subjects: Art, Reading, Math, Science, Career Exploration, Mandarin, Spanish, PE, and Special Ed. Never a dull day!
